Google Lampung - possible inclusion of the iPhone 5 in the smartphone lineup of T-Mobile and Sprint : It appears that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be shifting to a multiple carrier strategy with the iPhone 5 as recent reports have pointed out the T-Mobile USA and Sprint (NYSE:S) may also offer the latest version of the popular smartphone. Earlier reports have revealed that the iPhone 5 along with the iPhone 4 will be included in the smartphone lineup of Sprint. The reports indicated that the iPhone 4 may be offered by the company by September or October.
The only mobile service providers that currently support the iPhone are AT&T (NYSE:T) and Verizon (NYSE:VZ). If the reports are accurate, the iPhone 5 of Apple will likely have an additional 52 million potential users from the client base of Sprint. However it remains to be seen on whether these clients would switch from an Android smartphone to the iPhone 5 of Apple.
The report also indicated that T-Mobile may be preparing to offer the iPhone 5, which will supposedly be a world phone or will have a dual-mode allowing it to be used on a GSM and a CDMA network. The source of the report was supposedly from an internal document which revealed a deal that will permit the mobile service provider to include the iPhone 5 on its smartphone lineup.
Numerous reports on the possible inclusion of the iPhone 5 in the smartphone lineup of T-Mobile and Sprint have also discussed the possible acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T. Some observers have revealed that the inclusion of the iPhone 5 on the lineup of Sprint may facilitate the acquisition of T-Mobile by AT&T.
Even as reports have shown that T-Mobile and Sprint may offer the iPhone 5, there are also some reports that indicated that Verizon will be receiving the delivery of a new Nexus phone, which may also be offered in the four major mobile service providers. The Nexus S is currently being offered by three major mobile service providers with the exception of Verizon.
Samsung manufactured the Nexus S of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and reports have revealed that the same company will manufacture the next version of the Nexus smartphone. Although the iPhone of Apple is considered as most wide-accepted smartphone in the market, the inclusion of the iPhone 5 in the lineup of the major mobile service providers will provide consumers a wider selection of devices especially with the reported release of the next Nexus smartphone in the same mobile service carriers.
